Bookkeeping and tax returns for freelancers

Your btw returns filed on time, your income tax return done right, and every question answered in plain English. Fixed monthly fees, no surprises.

Two ways to work together

Choose how much you want to do yourself. Both options include your quarterly btw returns and support by email.

You book, I check

You send your invoices and upload receipts in the bookkeeping software. Every quarter I review and correct your bookkeeping, then prepare and file your btw return.

I do your bookkeeping

You upload your receipts and I take care of the rest: processing your bank transactions, checking your invoices and keeping track of who still owes you money.

Included in both options

  • Quarterly btw (VAT) returns
  • EU sales listing (ICP) when you invoice EU business clients
  • Quarterly check of your bank account and VAT treatment
  • An update on your result and how much tax to set aside
  • Help adjusting your provisional tax assessment (voorlopige aanslag)
  • Deadline reminders and email support within one working day

Your annual income tax return

Once a year I close your books and prepare your Dutch income tax return, so you pay what you owe and not a euro more.

Year-end figures

Profit and loss account and balance sheet, depreciation of business assets and the private use of your car or home office.

Entrepreneur deductions

A check of the deductions you're entitled to, such as the self-employed deduction, the starters' deduction and the SME profit exemption.

Filing and follow-up

Your return filed on time, a check of the assessment when it arrives, and a short year-end call about the year ahead.

Common questions from freelancers

When are btw returns due?

Most freelancers file quarterly. The return and payment are due by the last day of the month after each quarter: 30 April, 31 July, 31 October and 31 January.

Should I use the small business scheme (KOR)?

If your turnover stays under €20,000 a year, the KOR lets you stop charging btw, but you also can't reclaim btw on your costs. Whether it pays off depends on your clients and expenses; we'll look at it in your health check.

How much tax should I set aside?

It depends on your profit, deductions and personal situation. Each quarter I tell you what your result is so far and roughly how much to keep aside, so the annual assessment never comes as a shock.

Do I need a separate business bank account?

It isn't legally required for an eenmanszaak, but it's strongly recommended. It keeps your bookkeeping clean and makes it cheaper, because there are fewer private transactions to sort out.
